David Jeremiah  -  declares the Sabbath command is not "repeated" in the "New Testament".

Yahusha told us,

“Do not think that I came to destroy the Torah or the Prophets. I did not come to destroy but to complete(fill-full).  “For truly, I say to you, till the heaven and the earth pass away, one jot or one tittle shall by no means pass from the Torah till all be done.

“Whoever, then, breaks one of the least of these Commands, and teaches men so, shall be called least in the reign of the heavens; but whoever does and teaches them, he shall be called great in the reign of the heavens."  Mat 5:17-19

“David Jeremiah, a popular Christian teacher, pastor, and author, recently stated on the radio that the Sabbath is the only Commandment which is not restated in the New Testament.  Hopefully he will comment on the following email recently sent to him:

‘This past week, while listening to your teaching concerning redemption, I heard you mention the lessons to be learned from the book of Nehemiah.

The people (of Israel) listened to the reading of the Torah scroll, and learned they had not been faithful in heeding the instructions (Torot, plural for Torah), and kept the festival of Sukkoth (Tabernacles, Tents).  In your comments you made the statement that you had great respect for people who obey instructions written in the Torah, like innocent children who obey their parents.  You said this was dear to our Father (Yahuah).  Then you regurgitated the words of seminary (seed-plot) teachers who claim that “the Sabbath” is the only commandment not “repeated” in the “New Testament”.

This is simply untrue.  The Sabbath is mentioned and observed throughout the Brith Chadasha (renewed Covenant writings), and in fact is over twice as often mentioned in the books from Mt. – Rev. as in all the rest of Scripture (TaNaK).  If the occurrences of the word "Sabbath" represented individual blueberries in 5 pancakes, and the fifth pancake represented the books from Mt. – Rev., then it would contain more than twice as many blueberries as the other 4 pancakes.

The Sabbath is not obeyed by Christianity as a whole, due to the edict of Constantine in 321 CE, I realize.  But it is one of the Ten Commandments, and a day which was blessed by Yahuah in the beginning.  It is the “sign” of the Eternal Covenant, so that would indicate that it is also eternal, as the rest of Scripture backs up.  Hebrews chapter 4 is very clear, but too often “spiritualized” and not properly understood.’  (End of Email from Lew White)

David Jeremiah has been informed that his reply to this Email will be posted at this web site, so we are waiting for his response.  Hopefully he will reply and you may read his comments, and whether or not he acknowledges that the Sabbath is still a day which Yahuah blessed, and whether he recognizes it as such after years of neglecting it  -  as the returning Israelites realized they had neglected the festival of Sukkoth.  What an opportunity this will be for him to get the right answer about something so important to his relationship with Yahusha;  but it will also be a point of departure for his supporters who don't agree.  Walking in the Covenant is not how Christian teachers understand repentance, because doing so has great costs attached to it.

Your response will be posted below these statements for the whole Messianic (Natsarim) community to read.

No response from David Jeremiah has been received since this was originally posted during November, 2007.  Readers’ Emails may help prompt David to respond  -  bear in mind: his webmaster may not be telling him about this.  I've re-sent a copy to him several times, the latest one on 11-7-2009.

Update 11-7-2009:   Brother David spoke on his radio program this week on Psalm 1.  This Psalm clearly states that the man who delights in Yahuah's Torah is blessed (happy).  The opposite is true of a person that does not delight in Yahuah's Torah.  David even said that people look at the Word of Yahuah to find out how much they can get away with, and how they don't study to learn how they can please Yahuah the most.  He's so close to crossing-over to the Covenant;  please pray for him.

New email sent from Lew to David 6-10-10:

Dear brother David,

As I drove to work today, your radio broadcast message was an answer to prayer.  I’ve been praying for you, and for all those who listen to your broadcasts.  The readings from YirmeYahu (Jeremiah), Yehezqel (Ezekiel), and Revelation were boldly connected, and I wanted you to know that many of us are listening, and rejoiced to see someone like you awakening, and given the courage from Yahusha to proclaim the Truth here in the final days.  The prophet YirmeYahu (your name’s-sake) recorded many things for Yisrael in these last days, and one of them was why Yahuah removed His Name from our lips.  What I’m referring to came just after the text you cited concerning Ishtar/Easter:

Jer / YirmeYahu 44:25 “Thus spoke יהוה of hosts, the Elohim of Yisra’ĕl, saying, ‘You and your wives have spoken with your mouths, and have filled with your hands, saying, “We shall perform our vows that we have made, to burn incense to the sovereigness of the heavens and pour out drink offerings to her.”

Then confirm your vows and perform your vows!’

Jer / YirmeYahu 44:26 “Therefore hear the word of יהוה, all Yahuḏah who are dwelling in the land of Mitsrayim, ‘See, I have sworn by My great Name,’ declares יהוה, ‘My Name shall no longer be called upon by the mouth of any man of Yahuḏah in all the land of Mitsrayim, saying, “As the Master יהוה lives...”

Christianity and Wicca have no problem with the last 6 of the 10 Commandments;  but when Christians take hold of the whole Covenant, Yahuah will be restoring them (not “reforming” them), and the marriage relationship He desires with His Bride (Yisrael, one body) will be restored.  It will be at this point the Natsarim (branches, guardians, Acts 24:5) will cry out (YirmeYahu 31) on mount Ephraim (Yosef, the lost tribes scattered among the nations), and realize they are the prodigal son, and return to Yahuah’s household, and the Covenant, and the “two trees” (Yahudah & Yisrael) will be united into one stick at Yahusha’s return (Yehez 36, 37).

The marriage supper of the Lamb will be with the reunited houses, Yahudah & Yisrael, not the “church”.  Gentiles must engraft into Yisrael via the Covenant (Eph 2:8-13), immersing in the Name of Yahusha for the forgiveness of sin.  The wrinkles in Yahusha’s Bride are many, but easy to smooth out.  Stay committed, and know you are being prayed for every single day.  I’m not talking to “JESUS”, but the true Mashiach of Yisrael, Yahusha . . . . . There is only one name given under heaven among men by which we must be delivered (Acts 4:12).

Yisrael is much greater than just the tribe of Yahudah (royal line); we are scattered over the whole Earth, and returning to the Covenant as told at YirmeYahu 31, where the “re-newed” Covenant is also provided.  You have been given a BIG microphone here in the last days, and it appears you are beginning to use it for the purpose it was given to you.

Yisrael is Yahuah’s eternal Bride; scattered, but will be re-gathered (the whole prophecy given to Yehezqel).

With much encouragement,

brother Lew
