5 BLUEBERRY PANCAKES, AND THE SABBATH

Imagine 5 pancakes, and 170 blueberries.

If over 35% of the 170 blueberries were in just ONE of these pancakes,

do you think you’d notice the richer taste of blueberries in it?

The 5 pancakes represent all of Scripture.

The 170 blueberries represent how many times the word “Sabbath” is found in the whole of Scripture (170 times).

The first 4 pancakes are analogous to Genesis through Malachi.

The 5th pancake is proportionate to the other 4 pancakes as the Renewed Covenant Writings (Matthew through Revelation) are proportionate to Genesis through Malaki.

For Illustration purposes, let's suppose that one takes the position that the "Sabbath" day is no longer in force, as Christians will often explain, yet they still believe that all Scripture is inspired by Yahuah.  Now, let's see if Scripture agrees with the Christian assumption that the Sabbath day is irrelevant from the inspired writings:

Taking the total number of times the word "Sabbath" is used in ALL of Scripture, we find 170 occurrences.  In each of these occurrences, it's the SAME SABBATH day being referred to, and none of them are the so-called SUN-day being taught by tradition.  Next, we assess the total amount of all Scripture, and find that the Natsarim Writings is about one-fifth of the whole.

Then we consider an analogy where all Scripture represents 5 large pancakes, and the occurrences of the word "Sabbath" within the text are represented by 170 blueberries (Remember, the word "Sabbath" is used 170 times in all of Scripture).

We find there are 109 blueberries (65% of them) in the first 4 pancakes.  (Sabbath is found 109 times in Gen.-Mal.).

(Remember, the first 4 pancakes are analogous to what Christians erroneously refer to as the "Old Testament" or TaNaK).

We find there are 61 blueberries (35% of them) in the last single pancake.  (61 occurrences).

This last pancake is going to be VERY rich with blueberries; in fact it is mathematically over twice as dense with blueberries than the first 4 pancakes (on average, the other 4 only have 27 blueberries each, compared with the 61 in the 5th one).

Come, let us reason together.  How is it possible that with "the Sabbath" being over 2 times as densely used in the Brith Chadasha, that Christianity never embraced it?  Yahusha guides us into all Truth.  He told us that if we hold to His teaching (Torah), we are truly His disciples, and the Truth (Torah, Word) will set us free (from the bondage of sin, which is living against, and without, His teaching.   His teaching is His Torah, which He commanded us to go teach all nations).

We obey because we love Him, not to be saved through our obedience.

Our obedience is the evidence that we are being saved by His life.

If we claim to know Him, but do not obey His Commands, we are liars, and the Truth is not in us.

Can you taste the blueberries?

Comments from Deena:

I have looked up Sabbath in the TaNaK and in the Messianic Scriptures and found some different numbers. I found a total of 251 times that Sabbath is referred to. In the Messianic Scriptures it is found 60 times and as "WEEK" in nine verses. I also found that it was found 111 times in the Tanak. My suggestion is to research it to see if you find the same things I found. I use e-Sword for my research. Outside of that, I really enjoyed the analogy.

An interesting question was asked:

Q: Is your institution Jewish, Christian or Messianic Yahwist? Or all three?

A: We are a group of individual scholars of Yahuah's Word, loosely associated to one another. Some of us have different opinions on details, but in general we all share a love for the Covenant (Torah of Yahuah) and a love for the one true Name of the Creator. Anyone who shares this love and has been immersed I would consider a brother or sister in the faith.

We perform individual research of the original language of Scripture, and attempt to relay a clearer idea of it to the English-speaking world. Even though some of us may disagree with one another on fine points, we all embrace a love for the Truth and love Yahuah, and we differ from Christians in that we obey the 10 Commandments because we have been given a love for them by Yahusha. Christians generally observe 8 of the 10, and Catholics observe 7 of the 10; but we love all 10. For example, since we observe the original Sabbath (as "Jewish" people do also), we are often misunderstood by Christians. And, because we hold to the testimony of Yahusha (as "Christian" people do also), we are often misunderstood by those in orthodox Judaism.

Here's some of those occurrences of the word "SABBATH" in the texts written by the closest students of Yahusha.  If you believe yourself to be a follower of the Mashiak of Israel, and don't observe the Covenant which includes the Sabbath day of rest, take heed to the "walk" that the inspired word shows you now;  it will never pass away:

Many are told the Sabbath command is not "repeated" in the "New Testament"..Yahusha told us,

  DAVID JEREMIAH                         LEW WHITE

David Jeremiah, a popular Christian radio and TV teacher, pastor, and author, recently stated on the radio that the Sabbath is the only Commandment which is not restated in the New Testament.  Hopefully he will comment on the following Email recently sent to him:

"This past week, while listening to your teaching concerning redemption, I heard you mention the lessons to be learned from the book of Nehemiah.

The people (Israel) listened to the reading of the (Torah) scroll, and learned they had not been faithful in heeding the instructions (Torot, plural for Torah), and kept the festival of Sukkoth (Tabernacles, Tents).  In your comments you made the statement that you had great respect for people who obey instructions written in the Torah, like innocent children who obey their parents.  You said this was dear to our Father (Yahuah).  Then you regurgitated the words of seminary (seed-plot) teachers who claim that “the Sabbath” is the only commandment not “repeated” in the “New Testament”.

This is simply untrue.  The Sabbath is mentioned and observed throughout the Brith Chadasha (renewed Covenant writings), and in fact is over twice as often mentioned in the books from Mt. – Rev. as in all the rest of Scripture (TaNaK).  If the occurrences of the word "Sabbath" represented individual blueberries in 5 pancakes, and the fifth pancake represented the books from Mt. – Rev., then it would contain more than twice as many blueberries as the other 4 pancakes.

The Sabbath is not obeyed by Christianity as a whole, due to the edict of Constantine in 321 CE, I realize.  But it is one of the Ten Commandments, and a day which was blessed by Yahuah in the beginning (always correct with Scripture: you may find evidence of this blessing of the 7th day at Barashith/Genesis 2:2,3, and its permanence is given at Shemoth/Exodus 31:13-17).  It is the “sign” of the Eternal Covenant, so that would indicate that it is also eternal, as the rest of Scripture backs up.  Hebrews chapter 4 is very clear, but too often spiritualized and not properly understood.’

(End of Email from Lew White)

The Christian pastor David Jeremiah has been informed that his reply to this email will be posted at this web site, so we are waiting for his response.  Hopefully he will reply and you may read his comments, and whether or not he acknowledges that the Sabbath is still a day which Yahuah blessed, and whether he recognizes it as such after years of neglecting it  -  as the returning Israelites realized they had neglected the festival of Sukkoth.  What an opportunity this will be for him to get the right answer about something so important to his relationship with Yahusha;  but it will also be a point of departure for his supporters who don't agree.  Walking in the Covenant is not how Christian teachers understand repentance, because doing so has great costs attached to it.
